The concept of zero is referred to as shunya in the early Sanskrit texts and it is also explained in the Pingala ’s Chandah Sutra (200 AD). The Hindu genius Bhaskaracharya proved that x divided by 0 = ∞ (infinity) and that infinity however divided remains infinity. This concept was recognized in Hindu theology millennia earlier. The earliest recorded date for an inscription of zero (inscribed on a copper plate) was found in Gujarat (585 – 586 AD). Jallikattu (or sallikkattu ), also known as eru thazhuvuthal and manju virattu , is a traditional spectacle in which a bull is released into a crowd of people, and multiple human participants attempt to grab the large hump on the bull's back with both arms and hang on to it while the bull attempts to escape. Participants hold the hump for as long as possible, attempting to bring the bull to a stop. In some cases, participants must ride long enough to remove flags on the bull's horns.
